Digital Technology and Business Performance of Educators in Yenagoa Bayelsa: Does Employee Commitment Really Matter?

Background: Recent advancements in technology have significantly transformed business operations. Companies are increasingly adopting digital strategies such as social media and mobile platforms to drive innovation and improve performance. However, businesses face several challenges related to technological changes, lack of operational efficiency, low employee engagement, shifting customer preferences, service quality issues, and the absence of a clear vision. Objective: This study seeks to assess the influence of digital innovation on organizational commitment, examining how the adoption of digital technology impacts business performance. Methodology: A quantitative research method was employed for the study. A total of 196 questionnaire copies were distributed to employees in selected schools in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. Out of these, 178 questionnaire copies were retrieved and analyzed, representing a 90.8% response rate, which is considered acceptable for this study. The data was analyzed using Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Results: The findings revealed that organizations aiming to enhance their performance should focus on leveraging digital technology. The adoption of digital innovation was found to have a significant impact on organizational commitment, leading to improved business outcomes. Conclusion: Organizations looking to improve their performance should integrate digital technology into their operations. Digital innovation plays a critical role in fostering commitment among employees and driving overall business success. Unique Contribution: This study contributes to the growing body of knowledge on digital innovation by providing empirical evidence on how digital strategies can enhance organizational commitment and improve business performance, particularly in the educational sector in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. Key Recommendation: Organizations should prioritize the implementation of digital technologies to enhance efficiency, employee engagement, and customer satisfaction, ultimately leading to improved organizational performance.
